Big $$$: Deloitte secures a monumental $2.4 billion contract to lead the development and modernization of U.S. submarine technology, emphasizing advanced systems integration and software solutions.

More Submarines: The US Navy is hoping to ramp submarine production to ~1-2 per year, translating to ~$6-12 billion in annual production costs.

A Win for Consultants: This move underscores the Department of Defense's strategy to leverage private sector innovation for strengthening the U.S. defense industrial base, ensuring the Navy's edge in undersea warfare.

Deloitte just scored big.

The consulting giant won a colossal $2.4 billion contract to boost the U.S. submarine industry. Yep, you read that right—$2.4 billion. This deal is set to revolutionize defense tech, bringing a wave of innovation and modernization to the submarine sector. The contract’s length has the potential to be 5 years long.

So, what’s the plan? Deloitte will be leading the charge in developing cutting-edge technology for the next generation of submarines. This means everything from advanced systems integration to state-of-the-art software solutions. The goal is to ensure the U.S. Navy stays ahead of the curve in undersea warfare.

The US Navy’s stated goal in the RFP was to be able to produce ~1-2 submarines per year. Each submarine costs ~$3-6 billion to produce, so there is some serious technology required to support production of this size. Tens of thousands of people will need to be recruited to support this initiative.

Deloitte’s win is part of a broader strategy by the Department of Defense (DoD) to strengthen the U.S. defense industrial base. With global tensions on the rise, having a robust and advanced submarine fleet is more critical than ever. The DoD is betting big on Deloitte to deliver.

A few things we dislike about this Deloitte chart:

  • No one knows what BTS stands for — just spell out ‘Back to School’ in the title

  • The color scheme makes no sense — why does the ‘other’ category have to be white?

  • For a chart, there are a ton of words here. Deword!

plz fix 🤪
